Going to Law School?

CHH Can Help You Prepare!

It’s a different world: fast-paced learning style; Socratic Method; voluminous reading; complex procedural, technical, and substantive analysis; intense writing; and logical argumentation. The first year of law school is the most critical of the three-year undertaking. That’s where the Charles Hamilton Houston Pre-Law Program comes into play. We prepare our students for the rigorous comprehensive first year study of law.

Program Overview

The CHH Institute, as it is affectionately known, was founded by Attorney Donald M. Temple in the summer of 1979. During its first two years, CHH offered concise summary lectures. In 1981, Georgetown Associate Dean Everett Bellamy joined forces with Mr. Temple. By its sixth year, CHH had expanded into an intensive seven-week program comprising approximately 100 hours of instruction. The curriculum includes an introduction to the study of law, contracts, torts, civil procedure, and appellate advocacy, taught by accomplished law professors, practitioners, and guest lecturers.

From Our STUDENTS

“It is truly a blessing to be a part of this program but I am even more grateful to be able to learn from those that know just what it means to persevere. I’ve loved the program thus far and have appreciated the chance to discuss the law in the context of social change and shifting world views as well as having had the chance to consider the law’s impact over the past few hundred years. It’s good to consider just how much I don’t yet know because it drives me to continue to strive for every bit of knowledge I can take in.”
